Plans

These were the plans as in 2012/2013. Lots has changed since then, please see the blog articles for more info.

------------------------------------------

What are Winchester City Council's Plans?

To build 53 two, three and four bedroom Council houses throughout Abbotts Barton.
Sites that have been earmarked are:
  • The open green space at Dyson Drive
  • The main park opposite Charles Close
  • The green space on Hillier Way/Simonds Court
  • The garage blocks in Austen Close and Colbourne Court
These houses are to be built on Council owned land. You can see those plans here or on the notice board adjacent to the post box in Chaundler Road.

What does this mean for the Community?

The Council's proposals are going to affect residents from across our community. We are concerned about the impact on parking, the loss of open spaces, overcrowding, traffic and school places.

The Council are pressing ahead with their plans; the draft masterplan document for Abbotts Barton was approved by councillors at the Cabinet Housing Delivery Committee meeting on 27 February 2013 and the open areas will soon be advertised for appropriation.

What can you do about it?

Soon the Council will announce a formal consultation period as part of the planning process. We recommend that anyone wishing to register their concerns and objections contact the Cabinet Housing Delivery Committee as soon as possible. You can influence these plans!
